David Hays, founder of National Theater of the Deaf (NTD) honors Bernard Bragg with the first “Bernard Bragg Lifetime Achievement Award” during a dinner gala to celebrate NTD’s 40th anniversary in November, 2008. In presenting the award, Hays acknowledged Bragg’s pioneering work in deaf
theatre. “I may be the founder,” he said, “but without Bernard Bragg, there would be no NTD.”
